Full Description:
What do you get when you combine Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night and the music of Elvis Presley? You get All Shook Up, a story about a motorcycle riding, hip-swiveling "roustabout" named Chad who comes into a small Midwestern town in 1955 and, with his magic touch, stirs up love and music within everyone, much to the chagrin of the town’s stern mayor. Before you know it, multiple romantic entanglements ensue everywhere, hilariously complicated by mistaken identities and a girl, Natalie, who pretends to be a guy to befriend Chad. But Dennis likes Natalie, Natalie likes Chad, Chad likes Sandra, and Sandra likes…well, Ed, who is actually Natalie in disguise. And that’s just the tip of the romantic iceberg!
All Shook Up has likeable characters, honest emotions, and a fun and upbeat tone. It features some two dozen Elvis hits, including Jailhouse Rock, Blue Suede Shoes, Love Me Tender, Hound Dog, Burning Love, Can’t Help Falling in Love, Heartbreak Hotel, and All Shook Up. For an upbeat musical experience, this show should definitely not be missed. This production contains some adult subject matter, however, and it might not be suitable for younger children.
Directed by actor and drama teacher George Colangelo, All Shook Up opens on Thursday, March 13, and runs through Sunday, March 16. Evening performances are at 7 pm on March 13, 14, and 15. There is a Sunday matinee on March 16 at 2 pm. All performances are at the Winter Springs High School auditorium, 130 Tuskawilla Rd. An Elvis tribute artist will perform before each show. General seating tickets are available at the door at $5 for students and senior citizens, and $8 for adults. Reserved seating tickets are $12 (all ages) and may be purchased in advance. For reserved tickets and more information, call 407-359-6774.
